Yn ôl y gwahanol ddeunyddiau mesur tymheredd a ddefnyddir a'r gwahanol ystodau mesur tymheredd, mae yna thermomedrau cerosin, thermomedrau alcohol, thermomedrau mercwri, thermomedrau nwy, thermomedrau gwrthiant, thermomedrau thermocwl, thermomedrau ymbelydredd, thermomedrau ysgafn, thermomedrau bimetallig, ac ati.
Gall thermomedrau digidol farnu a mesur tymheredd yn gywir, a'u harddangos mewn rhifau yn lle awgrymiadau neu fercwri. Felly, fe'i gelwir yn thermomedr digidol neu thermomedr digidol.
